Basic Intelligence (What has happened?)
This level of intelligence product provides an insight into what has previously occurred and can include documented information which needs to be collated and analysed. This will provide a baseline of intelligence which is vital for planning further intelligence requirements.
Current Intelligence (What is happening?)
Current intelligence provides near real time view of information relevant to the intelligence requirement (direction) and focuses on the present situation, this may involve active collection methods such as investigations and surveillance. Understanding the current situation/environment is key to forming the foundations for operational and tactical decisions.
Estimative Intelligence (What could occur?)
This level of intelligence product can provide a forward thinking assessment and uses conclusions drawn from basic and current intelligence analysis. This predictive solution allows an organisation to understand potential situations and the outcome of such situations.
Warning Intelligence (What situation is developing?)
Similar to that of estimative intelligence, however the aim of this type of intelligence is to warn an organisation of a harmful or damaging situation. When used in conjunction with estimative intelligence, warning intelligence can identify and highlight indicators and triggers associated with hostile situations. This can be achieved through conducting ‘threat scenarios’ in line with estimative intelligence activities
